Obituary of Genevieve Margaret Goellner

Genevieve M. Goellner A Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve Margaret Goellner of Kirkwood, MO, formerly of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Dillon, Bill Stigall, Dan Goellner, Mike Goellner, Scott McPhee and Alex Rossato. Mrs. Goellner, 92, passed away Friday afternoon, February 6, 2015 at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, MO. Born October 20, 1922 in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of John Francis and Margaret Frances Hartwig Whalen. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Lindenwood College. Genevieve was united in marriage on June 24, 1943 in Old Monroe to William Joseph Goellner. This union was blessed with two children: Tom and Kay. She was employed as a teller at the Bank of Old Monroe for 20 years. She was a member of the Old Monroe Lions Club. Genevieve was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Whalen; one brother James Whalen; and her beloved husband of 52 years, Bill Goellner, who died August 29, 1995. Survivors include one son, Tom Goellner and his wife, Gloria, of Old Monroe; one daughter: Kay Stigall and her husband, Don, of Glendale, MO; 5 grandchildren: Rebecca McPhee and her husband Scott, of Elmhurst, IL, Bill Stigall and his wife, Elizabeth, of Town & Country, MO, Michael Goellner and his wife, Sara, of St. Louis, MO, Dan Goellner and his fiance, Susan Bizelli, of St. Charles, MO, and Margaret Rossato and her husband, Alex, of Greensboro, NC; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves several cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe.
