Obituary of Charles Russell Masterson

Mr. Charles Russell Masterson, 67, of Winfield, MO, passed away Wednesday night, August 5, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born December 10, 1947 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of Boyd F. and Mary Marie Johnson Masterson. Charlie was a 1966 graduate of New Madrid High School in New Madrid, MO. He served his country in the United States Air Force from July 1967 until May 1971. Stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, ND, he served under the Strategic Air Command (SAC) as a Jet Engine Mechanic Specialist on the B-52 and KC-135 aircrafts. Charlie was united in marriage on September 14, 1973 in St. Peters, MO to Barbara Faye LaVallee. This union was blessed with two children: Paul Jason and Heather Renee’. He worked as a Communication Technician for AT&T, retiring in January 2002. He then worked for B&B Construction until 2009. Charlie was a member of the Lincoln County Democratic Club and Communications Workers of America (CWA). He was a model builder and an avid sports fan, especially football. Charlie enjoyed traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Marie Masterson, Sr. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 42 years, Barbara Masterson of Winfield; one son, Jason Masterson of Joplin, MO and his girlfriend, Dee Schofield of Oronogo, MO; one daughter, Heather Glascoff and her husband, Daniel, of Winfield; and three grandchildren: Cheyenne Johnson-Glascoff, Alaina Glascoff and Evan Glascoff. Charlie also leaves his siblings: Frank Masterson and his wife, Thelma, of New Madrid, David Masterson and his wife, Barbara, of Key West, FL, Karen Swift of Wappapello Lake, MO and Boyd “Matt” Masterson, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of St. Charles, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Home Style Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Hawk Point Community Park Booster Club. Feel free to bring a dish and a story to share about Charlie.
