Obituary of Jaunita Trent Parker

Funeral Services for Jaunita Trent Parker of Winfield, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel in Green Forest, AR. Brother Jerry Scitern will officiate with burial in Pickens Cemetery in Green Forest, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc. Serving as pallbearers will be Warren Lindsey, Brandon Lindsey, Brantt Lindsey, Virak Um, Greg Parker and Romaine McClenton. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Harold Parker. On Monday, July 27, 2015 in the comfort of her home, Jaunita went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 95. Born July 4, 1920 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Thomas Blake and Sarah Alma Trent Ruth. Jaunita and her family lived in Kansas City until she was 11 years old, moving to Green Forest in 1931. Jaunita was united in marriage on October 12, 1940 in Green Forest to Paul Parker. As a young wife, Jaunita wrote Community Events for the Green Forest Tribune. After two years of marriage, Jaunita and Paul returned to the Kansas City area. God blessed their union with two children: Harold Paul and Mary Alma. After moving back to Missouri, Jaunita and Paul worked for a dairy. During World War II, she worked at Pratt Whitney. She also worked at Unity Ministries in the publications department, Wolferman’s Foods, Communications Company and on the assembly line at Wilcox Electric. Having a love for vacations, Jaunita and her family traveled all over the United States. Throughout her life, she loved having family and friends visit her home, staying there if they needed a place. A kind and generous person, Jaunita made everyone feel welcome. She enjoyed working on genealogy and has shared this research with many other family members, including the Brothers, Parker, Keithley, Ruth and Trent families. Jaunita loved making afghans, giving them to almost everyone she knew. Later in life, she made them by touch after she became legally blind. Jaunita stayed in contact with many friends, some for over 80 years. She had an excellent memory for both events and dates. A member of the First Baptist Church of Winfield, Jaunita was an example to all of how a Christian life should be lived. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Sarah Ruth; two sisters: Delta Ruth, and Lorena Ruth-Bell; two brothers: Charles Ruth and Courtlan Ruth; her son, Harold Parker, who died January 20, 2011; and her beloved husband, Paul Parker, who died November 22, 1981. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lindsey and her husband, Warren, of Winfield; her daughter-in-law, Sharron Parker of Pleasant Hill, MO; six grandchildren: Greg Parker, Sharrena Um and her husband, Virak, Brandon Lindsey, Brantt Lindsey, Angela Lindsey and Holly Lindsey; and seven great-grandchildren: Hannah Um, Lydia Um, Bailey Johnson-Lindsey, Eric Hewitt, Emma Bergesch, Nathan Yoder and Shane Yoder. Jaunita also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, many loved ones and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel in Green Forest. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice (or) the First Baptist Church of Winfield in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
