Obituary of Iris Elma Presley

Funeral Services for Iris Elma Presley of Troy, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield and J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Mrs. Presley, 74, passed away late Monday morning, June 8, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy. Born July 13, 1940 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Dick Hinton and Mary Edith Skinner Brown. Iris was a 1958 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on October 17, 1958 in St. Charles, MO to Claude Thomas “Mike” Presley. This union was blessed with four children: Carol Lynette, Thomas Irl, Laura Kay and Douglas Hinton. Baptized at the Elsberry Baptist Church at the age of 14, Iris was a longtime member of the Foley Baptist Church near Foley, MO. Iris worked as an Electronic Machine Operator for MEMC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Mary Brown; and two sisters: Nancy Elaine Taft and Juanita Monell Strobl. Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Mike Presley of Troy; their children: Carol Ballew and her husband, Randy, of Troy, Thomas Presley and his wife, Rachele, of Foley, Laura Serandos and her significant other, Duane Coe, of Wentzville, MO and Douglas Presley and his significant other, Debi Boyer, of Winfield; eight grandchildren: J.R. Chambers and his wife, Jamie, Krista Cox and her husband, Greg, Michael Kumbera and his wife, Megan, Justin Presley and his wife, Nicole, Shane Presley, Jacob Kumbera, Miranda Presley and Lincoln Presley; and nine great-grandchildren: Ariel Piechnoinski, Noah Chambers, Sabrina Huddleston, Mason Chambers, Damien Presley, Destini Presley, Jayden Kumbera, Londyn Presley and Parker Cox. Iris also leaves one sister, Edith Kathleen “Kaye” Montique of La Mirada, CA; three brothers: John David Brown and his wife, Barbara, of South Gate, CA, William Roger Brown of Sunland, CA and Richard Hinton Brown of Elsberry; two sisters-in-law: Faye Presley of Elsberry and Anna “Tug” Hecker and her husband, Fred, of Moscow Mills, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 and again Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
